Roger Federer 50/1 for London Treble!

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Roger Federer has set himself the target of a London treble next year, winning Wimbledon, the Olympics and the World Tour Finals in 2012. William Hill offer 50/1 that he manages to land all three titles.

“Roger failed to win a Grand Slam this year, but he clearly has confidence in himself to scoop three top titles in London next year,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Should you have as much faith in him, 50/1 is a very tempting price.”

Is Roger back to his best?

Monday, November 28th, 2011

Roger Federer is 5/1 to regain his status as World Number One in 2012, but he will have to overcome both Novak Djokivic (4/6) and Rafa Nadal (9/4) to do so.

Despite a great end to the year, Hills are 4/9 that Federer fails to win a slam in 2012 and 11/8 to win one.

Roger Federer is possibly the greatest Tennis player of all time and if he can manage his timetable correctly, he could well win a Slam next year and possibly regain his world number one status,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Roger Federer and the dead cert?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

William Hill are set to pay £101,840 to Oxfam if Roger Federer wins this summer’s Wimbledon title - after a deceased gambler left a string of bets to the charity - in his will!

Nick Newlife from Oxford took out a series of bets on Federer, Andy Roddick and West Indian cricketer Ramnaresh Sarwan, and if all of them come off Oxfam will benefit to the tune of a third of a million poiunds.

‘Mr Newlife passed away at the age of 69, leaving behind a string of potentially very profitable sporting bets, which he will to Oxfam’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

“He (Mr Newlife) was clearly a very shrewd sporting gambler whose early identification of potential superstars won tens of thousands of pounds for himself while he was still alive - but to ensure that a respected charity would benefit from any bets which came to fruition after his death makes him unprecedented in my thirty year experience of the betting industry. Roger Federer is already 6/4 hot favourite to win this summer’s Wimbledon and I fully expect to be handing over a six figure [£101, 840] cheque to Oxfam when he does so.”The outstanding bets placed by Mr Newlife that could still come off are:

•£1520 on Federer to win Wimbledon men’s singles at least 7 times before 2020 at 66/1 - this would win £101,840 for Oxfam this summer if he comes out on top at this summer’s Wimbledon.
•£1,000 on Andy Roddick to win at least 7 grand slam singles titles before 2020 at 33/1 - this would win £34,000 for Oxfam.
•£750 on Andy Roddick to win at least 10 grand slam singles titles before 2020 at 100/1 - this would win £75,075 for Oxfam.
•£350 on Ramnaresh Sarwan to make over 7,000 test match runs by end of 2019 at 50/1 - this would win £17,850.
•£300 on Ramnaresh Sarwan to make more than 8,000 test match runs by end of 2019 at 100/1 - this would win £30,300.
•£250 on Ramnaresh Sarwan to make more than 9,000 test match runs by end of 2019 at 250/1 - this would win £62,750.
